Fear of Dogs
Being fearful of dogs can have a significant impact on the lives of both children and adults, going as far as affecting one's ability to enjoy daily activities and interactions.
For children it may interfere with their ability to enjoy outdoor activities, visiting friends' homes or participating in community events where dogs are likely to be present.
Adults with dog phobias may experience difficulties in social settings, limiting their interactions with friends, family and colleagues who own dogs.
It is possible to overcome these fears and improve quality of life for both adults and children.
Debby Lucken (ISCP, Dip, Canine Prac), the founder of Kids Around Dogs in the UK has designed a successful protocol to help children and adults overcome their fear of dogs, which all Kids Around Dogs Approved Professionals around the world have been taught and are qualified to use.
The protocol uses Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to change negative thoughts about dogs into positive ones by looking at and understanding dog body language, their personalities and the things they have in common with humans. The course is a combination of on-line and in-person sessions. For more information on the individual protocols click below.
